· Odisha government nod must for multi-storey buildings in rural areas: Minister
ð Realtors and individuals planning to construct multi-storey buildings in rural areas will now have to take approval from the state government as it aims to check unauthorised constructions. The approval has been made mandatory for buildings with built-up area exceeding 500 square/metre, a building plan of ground plus two floors (G+2) and a layout plan for more than one acre.
ð The state housing and urban development department (H&UD) has already issued official gazette notification in this regard. At present, building plan approval is required for construction of multi-storey buildings, apartments, group housing projects and commercial buildings within the area of development authorities, master plan area, improvement trusts and special planning authorities.
ð As the regulation is aimed at checking unauthorised constructions in the form of apartments or commercial complexes, the state government has exempted buildings within 500 square/metre or less than three floors with layout plan within one acre from obtaining such approval.
