ODISHA
- Voters with multiple IDs reduced from 9lakh to 48,000 in Odisha
- As many as 8.5 lakh voters with multiple identities have been deleted from the electoral roll in the state.
- During the preparation of the draft electoral roll more than nine lakh voters came under the scanner of CEO as they are suspected to have multiple voter identity cards. These voter IDs had demographically similar entries (DSE), which included all absent, shifted, dead, and repeat entries. After several rounds of verification the number of DSE has reduced to around 48,000.
- There were various types of DSEs like similar IDs within an assembly constituency, similar IDs outside the segment but within the state and similar IDs outside the state. There are also electors whose name, gender, age, date of birth, and relation types are similar. These DSEs were subjected to electronic scrutiny and field verification.
