Odisha earns 19,000 cr in first 6 months of FY 21 from mining

The has recorded more than 200% Growth in revenue from themining and Metal sectorin the first six months of the current financial year. The states revenue from the mining and metal sector as on Thursday is estimated to be around Rs 19,118 crore, which is much more than the Rs 5,947 crore collected during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

The first six months collection from the sector is also more than the total collection of the previous fiscal as mining had contributed Rs 13,600 crore in the 2020-21 fiscal and Rs 11,000 crore in the previous financial year.

Though the states revenue from all sources is yet to be estimated officially, sources said it could be around Rs 33,000 crore by the end of September, which means that themining sectorcontributed over 60% of total revenue in the first half of the current fiscal.

Every year the mining sector contributes a major chunk to the states overall revenue. Over the past few years that has been in the region of 25%. Huge growth in revenue collection from the sector would come as a breather for the state government trying to bring the pandemic-hit economy on track.

Shipping Minister Launches My Port App

Shipping Minister Sonowal, Minister of Shipping and Waterways, launched the My Port app to monitor port operations digitally.

Highlights:

The app was launched on 8 October in Kolkata for promoting transparency and accessible access port related information

The app is targeted towards the port users to avail various port Services, including all port details and monitor operations digitally.

It also has various information like Vessel Berthing, rake receipt, rake and indent, tariff, bills, container status, holidays.

These can be accessed anywhere and reach at any time and anywhere.

Aryabhata Award Presented To G Satheesh Reddy

The Award given by the Astronautical Society of India (ASI), is presented to Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO Dr G Satheesh Reddy

Highlights

The award is presented for his outstanding lifetime contribution to the promotion of astronautics in India.

Dr Reddy is a pioneer within the area of R&D of advanced avionics, Navigation, and missile technologies.

Dr Reddy has contributed a lot to strategic and tactical missile systems and helped the country become self-reliant in critical DEFENCE technologies.

He’s has found mechanisms to determine robust defence development and production ecosystem.

Father Of Pakistans Nuclear Bomb Passes Away

Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, also known as Father of Pakistans nuclear bomb has passed away.

Highlights

The atomic scientist, Dr Khan was the first man to transform Pakistan into the worlds first Islamic nuclear power.

He was known as Father Of Pakistans Nuclear Bomb in the said country.

He was also praised for his contributions to enhancing the countrys DEFENCE capabilities.

Dr Khan was born in 1936 in Bhopal and migrated to Pakistan during the partition.

He died on 10 October at 7 am at Khan Research Laboratories hospital due to internal bleeding in his lungs.

Kyrgyzstan To Get $200mn LoC From India

India has agreed to provide USD 200mn as a line of Credit support for developing Projects in Kyrgyzstan.

Highlights:

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev had agreed upon this Line of Credit.

Kazakhstan is the current Chair and initiator of the CICA Forum.

Jaishankar also has bilateral talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tileuberdi.

They also discussed liberal visa regimes between both the countries and liberal visa regimes between both the countries.
As India is developing its nuclear and Kazakhstan happens to have substantial uranium deposits, A strong relationship between the two countries is crucial.

Forward Action Plan On Power Signed By India And UK

The Forward Action Plan On Power was signed at the 3rd India-UK Energy for Growth PARTNERSHIP Ministerial Energy Dialogue.

Highlights:

Both India and UK agreed on the Forward action plan which includes, energy storage, smart grids, charging , green hydrogen, battery storage and the need to mobilising investments across RENEWABLE ENERGY.

India and UK also discussed the possibility of setting up a World Bank for green energy, which was the foreground to the forward action plan on power.

Energy transition activities were the majority discussed topics between the countries under which renewables like solar, wind, EVs and other alternative fuels were discussed.

There hasnt been much hold on the <a href="https://exam.pscnotes.com/green-Climate-fund”>Green Climate Fund that was established to provide $100 billion yearly to emerging nations by 2020 in a bid to counter Climate Change.

Green hydrogen is produced by splitting water into hydrogen and Oxygen by electrolyser, powered by electricity from renewable energy like wind and solar.
