DMPQ- Short note on National Commission for women.

National commission for women was set up as a statutory body in 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990.  Its mission is to review the Constitutional and legal safeguards for women, recommend remedial legislative measures, facilitate redressal of grievances and advise the Government on all policy matters affecting women. It consists of a Chairperson, 5 members and a member-secretary. All the members and Chairperson are nominated by the central government.  Ministry of Women and Child Development has nominated 3 members to National Commission for Women. This is in accordance with the section 3 of the National Commission for Women Act, 1990. They shall hold office for a period of 3 years or till the age of 65 years or until further orders from the date of assumption of charge of office, whichever is the earlier.
